Mission Statement

I like to take this opportunity to share a little bit about Little Munchkins environment. I began my teaching career educating preschool children in Palo Alto and my love for it has led me to open my own learning center. I’ve enjoyed teaching for 5 years and have had an array of enriching opportunities educating children from many different cultural backgrounds and ages. Throughout my experiences and observations, I have concluded there is one definite aspect of learning that “everyone” loves and that element is “PLAY”.

I believe that children learn through play and hands-on experiences. Ages 3 to 5 is the prime opportunity to develop social skills. Learning should be about the process and not the product. Asking open-ended questions facilitates the development of critical thinking skills. Young children thrive in environment that create routine. Routines offer learning opportunities about themselves, others and the world around them. Children develop at varying rates and times. Teachable moments happen many times throughout the day; we strive to recognize these unplanned moments and utilize them.

To some “play” is the opposite of learning but here at Little Munchkins we maximize “play” as a learning tool. Fun is the name of the game with teaching style.
